July-Sept. Desert Pacific Council, B.S.A. -- Order of the Arrow Vol. 2001, No.1

JOIN THE TEAM
Probably the only real favorable memories that most Arrowmen remember about their Ordeal were the ceremonies. The rest of that weekend was pretty intense and most wouldn't ever want to go through it again. But that last ceremony, just before the feast, when their sash was placed on them for the first time really sticks in their mind. Sure they were tired and hungry and may not have understood every word, but all those images painted a unique mystical experience that moved them. Well, now that you are an Arrowmen you now have the opportunity to create this same experience for others. How you may ask ??? Well, its simple, come this September at our Chapter meeting, just raise your hand when the question is asked, "now who wants to be on our Ceremonial Teams for next year's Ordeal?" This should give you plenty of time to figure out if you want to do it. So, if you really want to have a great time next year in the OA, then JOIN THE TEAM!

FALL FELLOWSHIP
The 2001 Fall Fellowship will be at Matuguay this year from November 16-18. The Fellowship is an event where you can get some training, have some fun with sports competitions, and get to know your brothers. This is a Lodge event so it’ll be with the other chapters from the area surrounding San Diego. If you are interested contact any chapter officer for more information. We will be coordinating rides so if you are a youth, can get up there, and if you’re an adult, you don’t have to drive alone. More information about the schedule and cost will be coming closer to November.

CHAPTER JACKET PATCHES
Chapter jacket patches are available at our chapter meetings for $15 as our chapter fund raiser.

TIWAHE NECKERCHIEF
There is a new Tiwahe item to wear! It’s our new neckerchiefs! Mr. Rich Clement came up with the design and our chapter brought it up to the Lodge. We had them at the W4B Conclave and they looked sharp. They are red, with a white edge, with the Tiwahe Hawk in the center. The cost is $15, and our chapter treasurer, Eric Walker, will put you on the waiting list to get one on the next order. See him at the next chapter meeting.

WEW CHAPTER WEBPAGE!
The Naabaahii Webpage is “https://naabaahii.tripod.com/index.htm.” Come take a look and see what the chapter is up to. Some items the webpage provides are an updated calendar for 2001 and a tentative calendar for 2002, chapter officer info, info about the next chapter meeting, and the history of the Naabaahii Chapter. Suggestions? Let Alex Burke know.

JULY CHAPTER MEETING
At the next chapter meeting in July we’ll be having kayak races, a BBQ, and fellowship with our new brothers in the Order. Bring some shorts, a towel, and be ready for some hamburgers. It’ll be good fun so don’t miss it!

W4B CONCLAVE
The W4B conclave was held May 4-6. It was a held at the YAC on Fiesta Island, which was a nice scenery change from past years. The Tiwahe spirit item was little beach balls with the Tiwahe Hawk on them. Our lodge hosted it. Our lodge volleyball team and our sand castle building team took first places! The training went well, there were a variety of classes to take, and we all continued in our Arrowman Education. Our chapter had 4 youth and 4 adults attend. This year’s conclave was good, so if you missed out, hope that next year’s is as good.

LODGE ORDEAL
The Lodge Ordeal date is September 14-16 and will be held at Mataguay. If you know anyone who is a candidate for the OA and hasn’t gone through an ordeal yet this year, let them know this is the last chance to become an arrowman this year (they’ll have to be reelected next year). If you are interested in being on staff, see Chapter Chief Gene Smith or V-Chief Alex Burke. The two staff positions open right now are the elangomats. We need two elangomats to represent Naabaahii.
